West End Eurovision

Eurovision may be over, but West End Eurovision is just getting started!

For the past seven years, the Make a Difference Trust (MAD) has been holding the annual charity event, West End Eurovision.

This year is the last time this incredible one-off show will appear live on stage. So if you ever wanted to see it – now is your last chance!

What is it?

For one night only, London’s premier musicals come together to each perform one song from a past Eurovision final. They compete in the same way as the real Eurovision with the audience voting for their favourite act via text. All the proceeds go to MAD who offer help and support to people living with HIV, AIDS and other long-term chronic illnesses.

This year’s competing shows are:

Once
Billy Elliot
Wicked
Phantom Of The Opera
The Bodyguard
The Book Of Mormon
The Commitments
Mamma Mia
Les Miserables

Closing this year’s show will be Sonia who represented the UK in 1993.

There is also a panel of celebrity judges including Graham Norton and Rylan Clark.

I had the immense pleasure of seeing the show last year and will be returning this year. As the cream of theatre land are performing on stage, the level of professionalism is through the roof. Each act brings back to life an entry from yesteryear with style and pizazz.

Idents

All the shows have already released idents to accompany their performances. These are teaser trailers and are usually very funny. All of them are on YouTube and can be seen here. Below is a taster of what the idents look like – this is from The Book of Mormon: The Real Housewives of Uganda!

It’s held at the Dominion Theatre – where We Will Rock You is currently showing.
